About Shakespeare Man
Greetings, Gentles All, from Shakespeare Man, Robert Clover-Brown, British-born, holder of a Master of Arts degree in History from Cambridge University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (CPA equivalent), an experienced businessman and an actor.
For many years I engaged part of my brain in theatre, on and off stage, and on camera, being featured in TV commercials in the UK and USA, and in Print advertising in the UK and USA as a "character model" - my Central London agents were flatteringly called the Ugly Agency. Several of my commercial commissions involved portraying Shakespeare, in full costume.
Creating and teaching Acting 1 & 2, and Acting 3, for Home School students at THEO connects powerfully with my professional  experience! See Hot News on the Home Page.
Another part of my brain was devoted to pursuing a substantial entrepreneurial career in the UK, as a senior financial executive (CFO equivalent) and investor. This expertise is drawn upon while teaching Economics: A Study for Life for Home School students at THEO. See Hot  News on the Home Page.
A lifelong fascination with, and study of, Western Literature & Culture has led me to create literature classes and "Insider's Insights". Among many great novelists, poets, historians and biographers from both sides of the Atlantic, in addition to Shakespeare, I am especially drawn to the life and work of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.
Creating and teaching two Literature in Action classes for Home School students at THEO draws on my experience as a Teaching Artist and a student of literature and history. See Hot News on the Home Page.
An AP equivalent education in French and German in the UK, and numerous trips across the English Channel to experience the rich diversity of both countries, has equipped me to teach France: Language, History & Culture  for Home School students at THEO. See Hot News on the Home Page
Following a move with my family from the UK to North Texas in 2002, and consistent with a strong  desire to make a constructive contribution to my new community in the arts and education sectors, I have, among other projects:
*** created, and am teaching, classes at THEO. Literature in Action, French, Economics, and Acting
*** written  and performed an Educational DVD for Dallas Opera (Video Clips)
*** been interviewed live on Marfa Public Radio (Audio Clips)
*** taught Drama and 10th grade AP European History
*** made school presentations about British History & Culture-in my cricket gear!
*** coached English dialects and Shakespearean Monologues, and
*** worked as consultant for the Center for Non Profit Managementís IMPACT project for the Performing Arts in North Texas.
In addition, my life-long love of the theatre, history and literature has expressed itself most forcibly with my creation and development of my rapidly expanding Shakespeare Man programmes, as an integral part of my heartfelt desire to make William Shakespeare, the man behind the words, accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences.
Bear in mind that William Shakespeare lived in England when the country was ruled for many years by a charismatic Queen called Elizabeth - and I did too!
I have been fortunate to be invited to many different locations, and to perform for a wide variety of audiences right across Texas, and far beyond, including Washington DC, Marysville KS, Springdale AR, and Indianapolis IN
Closer to home, I have performed in Dallas, Fort Worth, Richardson, Azle, Plano, McKinney, Grapevine, Lewisville, Allen, Tyler, Mesquite, Temple, Wichita Falls, Garland, Bedford, Marshall, Highland Park, Pearland, Mineral Wells, Sherman, Big Spring, and Fort Stockton, Alpine, Odessa, Marfa  (all in west Texas)>
Having grown up listening avidily to BBC Radio, it was a pleasure to be interviewed on Marfa Public Radio while I was performing and presenting in West Texas.
